| If your young child were to wander out onto the
Freeway you would risk your very life to rescue him, so would I. Now listen
to me very carefully, your child is already on a new type of a Freeway or
is about to be there. This new Freeway is called the Internet and it is just
as dangerous as a real highway full of fast moving vehicles. Recent studies
(as reported by Focus on the Family) suggest that already 25% of our nations
children have access to the Internet and it will soon be 50%.
So what’s the big deal?!? The Internet is indeed
an phenomenal tool for education, shopping, travel planning, research, and
much more. The Internet is also an open sewer of every possible kind of
deviant philosophy from hardcore pornography (including bestiality and pedophilia)
to detailed instructions on how to build explosives.
Most are not even remotely prepared for the dangers
posed by the dark side of the Internet. Like cattle heading down the trail
to be slaughtered they buy computers, get hooked up the Internet, and then
along with the rest of their family members jump right in.
Without some type of protective Internet filtering
anyone, no matter how old, can easily access hardcore pornography.
Why are many so clueless to the dangers posed by
the Internet. I have discovered that most people are ignorant to the dangers,
and secondly, sadly many are just apathetic or even worse curious about
the dangers.
Well, what needs to be done. First, everyone needs
to get educated about the dangers on the Net. There are several good books
available. Allow me recommend "Kids Online" by Donna Rice Hughes.
Secondly, DO NOT HAVE THE INTERNET IN YOUR HOME without a good filtering

Use the Internet to the fullest, it really is a
wonderful tool. Just do it responsibly and save yourselves the heartache
of a broken child or a broken marriage. It happens every day.
